Tricycle cafe & bar
About This Spot
Nestled quietly at the end of a shaded arcade on Salamanca Place, Tricycle cafe & bar greets you with the soft hum of conversation and the warm glow of morning light filtering through modest windows. It’s the kind of spot where time slows gently, inviting visitors to pause and savor the moment—whether that’s tucked away with a book or catching up with friends over a well-made coffee.
The atmosphere here carries a humble charm, with cozy corners and simple, thoughtful decor that complements the pace of the neighborhood rather than competing with it. It’s part retreat, part local hub—where the baristas greet you with an easy warmth that feels genuine, underscoring the care put into each cup. Regulars and newcomers alike find a little quiet refuge amid the city bustle, a place that balances liveliness with calm.
Breakfast unfolds quietly but thoroughly here, with options that echo the surroundings: fresh, approachable, and comforting. The menu is broad enough to invite curiosity without overwhelming, offering a chance to discover something new or savor a familiar favorite. Whether it’s a light bite to start the day or a relaxed midday pause, the food and drink feel thoughtfully prepared, much like the place itself—unpretentious and welcoming.
Seating spills comfortably across the interior, allowing room for reflection without feeling empty, while soft background sounds mingle with the enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Occasionally lively and bustling during peak hours, the cafe retains a softness that invites you to stay a little longer. This is a place where you might arrive expecting just a quick coffee but find yourself lingering over a slice of cake or piece of seasonal fruit, soaking in the simple joy of an unhurried morning.
In many ways, Tricycle is a reminder of why cafes matter—not just as pit stops, but as spaces for human moments, quiet discoveries, and everyday connections. It’s a warm piece of the Hobart story, tucked away yet welcoming all who seek a grounded and genuine experience.

Best coffee in Hobart by far. Every time I come here, I have not been disappointed. Everyone else I bring here loves it, too! The staff are very kind and seem happy to be there. Please stay open forever.

Great coffee We wanted to enjoy it but it was average, in such a great location as well. Staff were not great. Maybe a bad day.

We stumbled upon this quaint hidden gem. Cute decor, extensive menu & delicious food. We would have liked to eat there again.

Delightful service and lots of choice. They were out of normal juice but that was ok. They make a good coffee and have plenty of seating with some lovely ambience. Cakes and biscuits were delicious too. Nice little spot hidden away in the end of an arcade.

I was craving some healthy food for breakfast/lunch. I was so hungry so I ordered the chicken and leek soup. It was nice and light the chicken seemed like there wasn’t much in there. I ordered avo on toast that was fresh and tasty, quiet reasonably priced. The cafe inside was pretty loud. Would go back and try other things
